I have been a disc jockey for over 10 years and just love seeing a full dance floor at the numerous events I have covered over the years. I have a comprehensive music collection ranging from the 1950s right through to the latest charts so I can cover most musical tastes.
I do all of the work involved in running the disco myself so customers can be assured of a personal service at all stages of their big event. Booking a disco for many people is something they don't do often so I feel it is important to offer help and advice to my customers during the planning stage of their party.
What to expect
The best way to plan a successful disco is to have a with a meeting with the customers before the party. If the customer wants to provide a list of their favourite songs this can then be discussed to achieve the best possible playlist. Any special requests and announcements can be jotted down to help the party run nice and smooth on the night. Disco lighting and the overall appearance of the disco stand can also be discussed and tailored to suit the venue and of course the customers personal preference. I will arrange setting up of the disco with the venue and keep the customer informed of the arrangements. I will normally visit new venues to discuss setting up and to make a visual check of the function room just to make sure everything fits and to check any health and safety matters. Copies of my public liability insurance and PAT certificates will also be made available to the venue. A final check will be made with the customer a few days prior to the party to confirm all is okay and discuss any last minute requests.
I always arrive at the venue in plenty of time to set the disco up before any guests arrive and where possible will set up earlier in the day or even the day before at no extra charge for local events. During the course of the party I want to keep as many guests on the dance floor as possible so I will be reading the crowd to ensure I play the right songs at the right time and I will be happy to play requests on the night.
Once the party is over and the guests have left I will commence taking down the disco kit and will have already given your venue an estimate of how long this will take.
