About - Charles Burns

Charles Burns is an artist, author and speaker who began his career as a Covent Garden street artist. He is, today, the UK’s busiest and best-known silhouette artist. Working with just a pair of scissors, and a pocketful of paper, he cuts his inimitable portraits at some of the most prestigious events in the land. Guests will be amazed, both by his enthusiasm for his subject and the accuracy of his cuttings.

What to expect

Charles has certainly found his niche! When booked as a speaker Charles will take the audience on an entertaining journey back in time, exploring the history of his shadowy art. He will bring up a key audience member or two, to have their faces cut out, and will answer the question on everybody's lips: "How on earth did you discover you could do this?" The talk will be tailored to your event and will leave the audience with much to ponder. For instance: how do we all find our own niche in life? When booked as an artist, Charles will wander among your guests cutting portraits as he goes. Cutting a silhouette takes him between 30 seconds and 3 minutes (depending on how complicated the hairstyle is) so many of your guests will have a chance to pose for him. Charles will talk about his work and answer questions as he goes. Each silhouette comes mounted on an attractive card for guests to take away as a souvenir of your event.
